\n Biography<\/strong>:\n Jacqueline is a third-year student from Malta reading for a PhD in Geology at the Victoria University of Wellington. Her research aims to reconstruct the explosive eruptive histories of New Zealand\u2019s nearshore volcanoes (i.e., T\u016bhua\/Mayor Island and Whakaari\/White Island) using marine sediment cores.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Given her background in physical volcanology and geochemistry, she is also interested in magma-water interactions, shallow conduit processes and associated syn-eruptive hazards. Additionally, Jacqueline is passionate about science communication initiatives. \n Biography<\/strong>:\n Geoff is an assistant professor at the Instituto Potosino de Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica y Tecnol\u00f3gica in San Luis Potos\u00ed, Mexico. His research focuses on the study of volcanic deposits using paleomagnetism to understand their processes and their hazards.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Biography<\/strong>:\n Joali, a proud Venezuelan, graduated as a Geological Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes in M\u00e9rida in 2010. She got my Ph.D. degree from the University of Perugia in Italy in 2018, transitioning from research on fine soils to fine volcanic particles.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n She is working as a Research Fellow at the University of Auckland, specializing in the physical analysis of volcanic ash, in order to understand explosive volcanic processes. Her research interest span different aspects related to the volcanic ash life cycle, from a physical and experimental approach, to assess fragmentation mechanisms in explosive volcanism. She is meticulous and passionate about her lab work and is driven by the desire to learn new things. On 2024, she was honoured to receive the Smart Ideas grant from New Zealand\u2019s Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE), securing 1 million NZD to further her research for another two years. In the last years, she been working with on-land and submarine ash deposits that were produced in the Hunga eruption of January 15, 2022 with the aim to decipher triggering mechanisms for such an explosive volcanic event. Currently, she is the ECR representative at the IAVCEI Executive Committee, elected for the period 2023-2027.\n <\/div>\n <\/details>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n

\n Biography<\/strong>:\n Barbara is an experimental petrologist and volcanologist passionate about uncovering pre- and syn-eruptive magmatic and volcanic processes to improve hazard assessment and risk mitigation. In her current work, she uses cutting-edge in situ X-ray tomography to study magma dynamics under storage and ascent conditions. \n <\/p>\n\n

\n Biography<\/strong>:\n Catheryn is a postdoctoral associate at the University at Buffalo, currently studying glaciovolcanism as a paleoclimate proxy on both Earth and Mars using experimental techniques\u00a0and fieldwork. They love living out their \u201cmad scientist\u201d dreams by making lava in the lab to pour into ice. \n <\/p>\n\n

She is passionate about volcanoes, and has been working on Chilean active volcanoes since 2018. \n<\/p>\n\n

\n Biography<\/strong>:\n Eric is a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College London, currently in his second year working on the FEVER project (Forecasting Eruptions at Volcanoes after Extended Repose). His research focuses on the precursory processes that occur as long-dormant volcanoes reawaken, using principles of fracture mechanics and brittle failure. <\/p>\n\n

Eric is also interested in the fluid dynamics of volcanic systems, investigating the turbulent behaviour of plumes and pyroclastic density currents through analogue experiments.
